The Cotswold Way was designated as a National Trail in 2007 and runs for 102 miles from Chipping Campden in Gloucestershire to Bath in Somerset. For most of its length, the path follows the western escarpment of the Cotswold Hills. Almost the entire trail runs through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are magnificent views across the Severn Vale towards the Malvern Hills, and you will pass through some attractive towns and villages.

The Cotswold Way walking holiday offers relatively easy terrain, with the highest point on the path at 1066 ft high on Cleeve Hill. However when walking in the Cotswold Hills you will encounter a few steep ups and downs. The path is well signposted with the National Trails’ acorn symbol.

Price

The price for a holiday walking the Cotswold Way is from £895 per person (based upon 2 people sharing). This includes:

  • Personalised itinerary for walking the Cotswold Way on a self-guided basis over 8 days
  • 9 nights’ bed & breakfast accommodation on a double or twin room basis (this includes B&B for the night before you start and the day you finish)
  • Taxis for drop-off/pick-up where the B&B is not within easy walking distance of the Path
  • Baggage transfer for one bag per person between each night’s B&B
  • Advice on travel arrangements to and from the start and finish points
  • Ordnance Survey Explorer maps which can be downloaded onto the OS App
  • Harvey Waterproof Map for the Cotswold Way
  • Kit checklist – covering boots & socks, clothes & waterproofs, and other useful kit
  • Helpline – you can call us at any time

Solo traveller price from £1295. This is because most B&Bs do not have single rooms and so will charge almost as much for one person as for two.

Key Information

  • Time of Year:

This walk can be done at any time of year, although we recommend between April and October for the best weather conditions and longer daylight hours.

  • Terrain: The terrain is moderate. For much of its length, the path is relatively level with a few steep climbs and descents. The walking surfaces are generally good, but can be muddy in places depending upon the time of year.

  • Way marking: The route is well signposted with the National Trails’ acorn symbol.

  • Bed & Breakfast: We always aim to book good quality B&B accommodation as near as possible to the path yet, despite its popularity, there are relatively few B&Bs on the path itself or within easy walking distance. This means that sometimes the only option is to book B&Bs that are away from the path and arrange pick-up/drop-offs by taxi.

  • Refreshments: Compared with some other routes, this walk is actually quite good for places en route where you can get a cup of coffee (and maybe even a bacon butty or cake!) while not having to deviate from the path. Whether these will be open depends upon the time of year, day of week and time you happen to be passing.

Fabulous Cotswolds Way trip with Walk With Williams!

Matthew was extremely efficient at responding to any questions I had, especially when I was chopping and changing my mind at the start re my proposed actual dates of travelling. The overall price was competitive and the whole trip was great value for money. I had to email Matthew twice (during the actual trip) re problems that occurred in my accommodation (not mine or Matthew's fault!) and he got back to me and got on to the accommodation to rectify the situation straight away. It was reassuring to know I had support behind me. My accommodation was central and had everything I needed. My luggage was moved on for me every day, no hassle at all. It was a lovely trip of the Cotswolds Way. It was 8 days of walking and I finished up in Bath. It was a great experience and I would not hesitate to book with Walk With Williams again.
